Bread must be broken to be consumed and shared, and grapes must be crushed amd poured out to make wine to cheer the heart and soothe the stomach. While Jesus' command to break bread (his body) and drink wine (his blood) was in the context of a meal, Communion is a meal that is more than a meal because of the context in which it was given to the followers of Jesus Christ.
